Surpassing the ordinary; exceptional.
The transcendent woman is a show that profiles women who have attained varying degrees of success across the continent. The show is centered on exploring and redefining womanhood in Africa. It looks at the myths and the stereotypes that surround women in their different contexts; whether that is the field, the family or the boardroom. This show gives women who have excelled, a platform where they can be seen, as more than just over-achievers.
The narrative that surrounds successful women usually paints them as being bossy and sometimes even devoid of emotion and any real leadership skills. It is important to show that women are not that stereotype. It is also important for women to have the conversation around this and other stereotypes that mar younger women from fully embodying who they are.
The show will cover a varying degree of topics that relate to; success, purpose, legacy, and experience. The premise of this show is to highlight the strength of “being”, especially for women who are raised to “do”. It is about telling the story of being, more than it is about the story of doing, more especially because women are raised to be constant doers for others.
Because we believe that women wield their power from being, we navigate what that means and if it is true in all contexts and if that is really what leads to being a successful woman in Africa. That is why it is important to interview women who have lived lives that can highlight that success is different and challenging no matter who you are and where you’re from, but with tangible, pragmatic, experience-inspired lessons embedded in that narrative.
The show is a way in which we can portray female leaders as more than just a stereotype with a unifying thread of strength and vulnerability that will be found in each weekly podcast, so that we can build on the narrative that is okay that women are diverse, and even in their diversity success is possible and that unity is attainable.
The show will pull on the themes of personal development, leadership, spirituality, purpose.
The show goes live weekly at 6pm CAT on Wednesday, with a repeat once a week on Sundays at 4 pm CAT.
