This week we discussed the tumultuous Zimbabwe economy, and how governments decision to add a 2% tax on money transfers and separation of cash dollars and foreign inflows from bond notes and electronic dollars, that caused the collapse of the surrogate currency on the black market. This decision not only caused panic buying and food shortages but most importantly it resulted in KFC having to temporarily shut down operations in Zimbabwe due to lack of money to buy chicken. We also celebrated Ghana’s independence with our social media family, congratulated DR Denis Mukwenge’s Nobel Peace Prize.
